In its pilot year, Opus One will meet 20 weeks during the academic year, with one performance at the conclusion. Regular Saturday rehearsal time will be 8:30-10:00am. This ensemble will focus more on technique than on performance, incorporating instruction on fundamentals of scales, shifting, and bowing, in addition to formative ensemble skills experience. The opportunity will be valuable to all young musicians who are at the early stages of their studies of a string instrument. Once established and if demand warrants, the ensemble could become a full program with year-long rehearsals, sectionals, and concerts.
All string players 8 – 12 are encouraged to apply.
