International Travel Opportunity for Outstanding High School Horn Players!

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s International Program is one of the most respected exchange programs in the nation. Since its inception in 1969, thousands of young Blue Lake Goodwill Ambassadors have performed throughout Europe, living with private host families while on tour and experiencing an educational and cultural experience that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Recruiting for the 2014 Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra (IYSO) is almost complete. We do have a select opening and would appreciate your assistance in identifying talented high school student prospects.

1 Section Horn                 ($1,000 scholarship)

The 2014 IYSO repertoire is very horn-heavy and will include Commemorative Fanfare for Brass and Timpani, by Cheetham; An Outdoor Overture, by Copland; and Symphony No. 1, by Brahms. In addition, the IYSO will join with the Blue Lake International Choir to perform Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 throughout the tour to Germany, France, and Luxembourg.

Maturity, manners and character are extremely important for each student accepted into the Blue Lake International Exchange Program, as they will serve as ambassadors for Blue Lake, the United States, and their school. Students enrolled in the program are expected to exhibit a high standard of maturity and self-discipline.  We ask that you keep this in mind as you recommend students for the program. Once we receive their application and audition, an invitation to the program will be based additionally on their phone interview, your recommendation, and available space. Please note that this position will be filled on a first come – first served basis.

Thank you for your assistance in identifying students who may be interested in this exciting opportunity. Please feel free to forward this email to other colleagues.  If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact the Blue Lake International Exchange Program at 800-221-3796 ext. 201 or email lbrockman@bluelake.org
