Sarah Gillespie

Dr. Sarah L. Gillespie received both her Doctorate of Musical Arts and Masters in Horn Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Louisiana State University.

She hosts a private studio of 18 students and believes that music education is for everyone and for life. Her school aged students regularly attain high scores at the WSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival and are members in prestigious, auditioned ensembles such as the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Winds of Wisconsin, and the WI State Honors Project.

Sarah is third horn of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and freelances with various symphonic and pit orchestras in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. Chamber music is her favorite genre of music to perform, especially with two quintets she co-founded, the Third Lake Brass Quintet and the Odyssey Wind Quintet. Sarah is an advocate for women composers and has premiered works at the International Women in Brass Conference and the National Women’s Music Festival.

When not performing or teaching, Sarah, a native of Louisiana, might be found cooking Creole or Southern cuisine.
